The Adventure Tourism Diploma Program at the CEGEP de la Gaspesie et des Iles, in Gaspe, Quebec has a variety of positions available for an experienced Instructor of Adventure Tourism for the winter 2010 session.
• 1 full 100% teaching workload in regular Adventure Tourism program (English section);
o Classes include Equipment Maintenance, Ecotourism and Sustainable Development, Sky Interpretation, Work Placement (Co-op Student Placements in Adventure Industy)

Instructor Duties:
The successful candidate will instruct college level courses in adventure tourism, and contribute to the student work placement co-op and program development. The instructor will be responsible for planning, preparing and delivering both theoretical and practical classes in adventure tourism. It is preferable if the instructor has the ability to teach in both English and French; however, the courses are advertised to be taught in either the English or French sections. The successful candidate will use their extensive network in the adventure tourism industry to contribute to the student co-op program. Finally, as a team member in a growing program the instructor will be responsible to contribute to the evolution and development of the Adventure Tourism Program through a variety of projects.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Adventure Tourism or related field
• Extensive experience in guiding/instruction in Adventure Tourism
• Industry certifications – instructor levels preferred
• Extensive knowledge of the Adventure Tourism industry in Quebec, Canada and International locales
• A desire to develop leaders in the Adventure Tourism industry and to contribute to the future of Adventure Education in Quebec and Canada.
• Bilingualism is an asset
• Class 4 drivers licence would be an asset

Term of Employment:
• January 10, 2010 to June 10, 2010 full time postion
• January 10, 2010 to April 2, 2010

About the Adventure Tourism Program at the Gaspé College
• The Gaspé College is the only college in Québec to offer a three year degree (DEC) in Adventure Tourism.
• The College is an associate member of Adventure Écotourisme Québec (Industry Association) and has been voted Associate of excellence for the year 2004.
• The Gaspé region is a rich and diverse environment characterised by 20 salmon rivers, the Appalachian Mountains and the Gulf of St.-Lawrence. The Gaspé has one national park and 3 provincial parks.
• The Adventure Tourism industry is in full development in Québec and the Adventure Tourism Program at the Gaspé College is playing a major role in that development.
